Before using Amlodipine 5mg, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease.
Amlodipine 5mg may make you dizzy or drowsy. Use caution while driving, using machinery, or doing other activities that require alertness. Limit alcoholic beverages.
Caution is advised when using Amlodipine 5mg in older adults because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially dizziness.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Amlodipine 5mg.
During pregnancy, Amlodipine 5mg should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known whether Amlodipine 5mg passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Take Amlodipine 5mg by mouth, usually once daily with or without food or as directed by your doctor.
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your doctor may gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Use Amlodipine 5mg regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is important to continue taking Amlodipine 5mg even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
If used for angina, Amlodipine 5mg must be taken regularly to be effective. It should not be used to treat angina when it occurs. Use other medications (e.g., sublingual nitroglycerin) to relieve an angina attack as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details.
Tell your doctor if your condition worsens (for example, your routine blood pressure readings increase or your chest pain happens more often).

Dizziness, lightheadedness, swelling ankles/feet, flushing, or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
To reduce dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed Amlodipine 5mg because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using Amlodipine 5mg do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, fainting.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: vision changes.
A very serious allergic reaction to Amlodipine 5mg is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

If you miss a dose of Amlodipine 5mg, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
