Before using Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart problems (e.g., irregular heartbeat, QT prolongation in the EKG), low mineral levels (electrolyte imbalances such as low potassium or magnesium), stomach/intestinal problems (e.g., recent surgery, ileus, swelling).
Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Avoid alcoholic beverages.
To minimize dizziness and light-headedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Caution is advised when using Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg in children with heart problems because they may be more sensitive to the heart effects (e.g., irregular heartbeat) of the drug.
Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known whether Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Store the US product at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
Store the Canadian product at 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.

Take Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg by mouth, usually within 1 hour before your cancer chemotherapy or within 2 hours before surgery, or as directed by your doctor. Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg may be taken with or without food. However, your doctor may tell you not to eat before chemotherapy or surgery.
Dosage of Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. The usual maximum dose is 100 milligrams. For children, the dosage may also be based on age and weight. Take Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg exactly as directed to get the most benefit from it. Do not take more medication or take it more often than prescribed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions.
Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.

Headache, constipation, tiredness, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: stomach/abdominal pain, change in amount of urine, vision changes.
Seek immediate medical attention if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting, slow/fast/irregular heartbeat.
A very serious allergic reaction to Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg is unlikely, but stop taking Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg and seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: apomorphine, QTc prolonging drugs such as ziprasidone.
If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg.
Other drugs besides ziprasidone that may affect the heart rhythm (QTc prolongation in the EKG) include dofetilide, pimozide, procainamide, amiodarone, quinidine, sotalol, and erythromycin, among others. QTc prolongation can infrequently result in serious (rarely fatal) irregular heartbeat. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details and for instructions on how you may minimize the risk of this effect.
Before using Anzemet (dolasetron) 100mg, tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: atenolol, cimetidine, previous treatment with certain chemotherapy drugs (anthracyclines such as daunorubicin/doxorubicin), rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide/hydrochlorothiazide).
