Cotellic Helps Treat the Following Conditions:

Melanoma

Melanoma is the most dangerous kind of skin cancer. It is caused by intense exposure to sunlight. Melanoma often resembles moles and can sometimes develop from moles. Its main difference from moles is the fact that it is asymmetrical. In most cases, melanoma is curable, although some forms of melanoma are fatal.

Cotellic Active Ingredient

Cotellic contains the active ingredient cobimetinib fumarate, which slows or stops the growth of cancer cells. Cancer patients are usually treated with a combination of Cotellic and another medication – vemurafenib

General Drug Information

What is Cotellic and What Is It Used For?

Cotellic is prescribed to patients suffering from melanoma. It helps to slow down or stop the growth of cancer tumors. It is normally used with vemurafenib.

Usage and Application

This medication is usually taken in cycles of 21 days, followed by seven days of rest.

The dosage depends on the patient’s medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications they may be taking. Patients should inform their doctor and pharmacist about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal products they are taking.

Most patients are prescribed one daily oral dose of Cotellic, with or without food. After 21 days, the medication is stopped for seven days. The cycle can be repeated several times, as advised by the treating physician.

Patients who vomit after a dose should not take another one. Instead, take your regular dose at the next scheduled time.

It is important to use Cotellic regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To prevent forgetting, patients should take Cotellic at the same time each day.

Patients should not increase their dose or use Cotellic more often/longer than prescribed. Their condition will not improve faster, and the risk of negative side effects is increased.

This medication can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm a fetus. Women who are pregnant – or who may be pregnant – should never handle Cotellic or be exposed to and accidentally inhale dust from the tablets.

Considerations Before Taking Cotellic

Before starting treatment, patients should tell their doctor if they have any allergies to the drug.

It is important to discuss a patient’s medical history, especially liver disease, bleeding problems, and high blood pressure. Patients should also mention heart failure and eye problems.

Cotellic may cause blurred vision. Patients should not drive, use machinery, or do anything that requires clear vision until they are in condition to do so safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.

Some patients may become more sensitive to the sun. Limit time in the sun, use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Avoid tanning booths and lamps. Contact your doctor in the event of sunburn or skin blisters.

Before surgery or certain dental procedures, patients should tell their doctor or dentist about all prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal products they are taking.

Women who are pregnant or who may be pregnant should never handle Cotellic, nor should they breathe the dust from the tablets. This medication can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby.

Pregnant women should not use this medication.

Women of childbearing age must use reliable forms of birth control while taking Cotellic. They should continue to take birth control for two weeks after the last dose of this medicine. If you become pregnant (or think you may be pregnant), inform your doctor right away.

It is not known whether Cotellic passes into breast milk. However, because of the possible risks, women should not breastfeed while taking this medication, and for the following two weeks after their last dose. Breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using this medication.

Delayed and Omitted Doses

Patients who miss a dose of Cotellic should take it as soon as they remember. If this happens near the time for the next dose, patients should skip the missed dose and proceed as usual. Patients should not double up on the dose to catch up.

Other Medications and Cotellic

Drug interactions may change the way Cotellic works, increasing the risk of side effects. Before starting treatment, patients need to discuss the full list of medications and supplements they are taking with their doctor.

Patients should not change their dose or stop taking this medication unless their physician advises them to do so.

Some medications can affect the removal of Cotellic from the body, affecting how it works. Examples include antifungal medications like Sporanox, some types of rifamycin antibiotics (such as Rifadin), and the HIV drug Sustiva.

The herb St. John's wort has a similar effect, as do drugs which treat seizures (eg. carbamazepine and phenytoin).

This document does not contain a full list of all possible interactions. Please consult with your physician before buying Cotellic.

Adverse Reactions

Many patients are able to take Cotellic safely without serious side effects.

Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Please alert your physician should these effects persist or worsen.

Some patients may experience pain or sores in the mouth and throat. Patients should brush their teeth gently and avoid using mouthwash containing alcohol. Rinse your mouth often with cool water mixed with baking soda or salt. Opt for soft, moist foods.

Cotellic may raise blood pressure. Patients should monitor their blood pressure regularly and inform their doctor if the readings are high.

Serious side effects include skin sores, lumps, and warts, as well as changes in the size and/or color of a mole. The list also includes easy bleeding and/or bruising, bloody stools, vomit that contains blood or looks like coffee grounds, and blood in the urine. Some women may experience unusual vaginal bleeding.

Cotellic may cause muscle pain and weakness, as well as changes in the amount of urine. Patients should also monitor for signs of heart failure: shortness of breath, swelling of the ankles and/or feet, unusual tiredness, and sudden weight gain. Some patients may see halos, experience blurred vision, or lose vision.

Additional symptoms include nausea, persistent vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellowing eyes and/or skin, and darkened urine. Patients should seek immediate medical help in the event of any of the above symptoms.

Medical assistance is also necessary if patients experience bleeding in the brain. Symptoms include a severe headache, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech, seizures, and confusion.

Serious allergic reactions to Cotellic are rare, yet patients should be aware of allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, and swelling (especially of the face, tongue, and throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing. Patients should seek immediate medical assistance in the event of such symptoms.

This is not a complete list of side effects. Before ordering Cotellic online, discuss possible side effects with your doctor.
