Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg may make you dizzy or lightheaded. Use caution while driving, using machinery, or doing any other activity that requires alertness. Limit alcoholic beverages.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg.
Caution is advised when using Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially dizziness, lightheadedness, and confusion.
Caution is advised when using this product in children because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially excitation, agitation, and increased blood pressure.
During pregnancy, Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Take Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg by mouth with or without food, usually every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor. Do not crush or chew Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg. Tablets may be broken in half if they have lines for breaking (scores). Drink plenty of fluids while taking Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg. Fluids will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
Dosage of Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
Use Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens after 7 days.

A very serious allergic reaction to Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

If you miss a dose of Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine).
If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg.
Avoid taking MAO inhibitors within 2 weeks before, during, and after treatment with Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg. In some cases a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction may occur.
Before using Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), beta blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol), digoxin, guanethidine, methyldopa, reserpine.
Guaifenesin and phenylephrine are available in both prescription and nonprescription products. Check the labels of all your medications to make sure you are not taking more than one product containing guaifenesin or phenylephrine.
Guaifenesin can affect the results of certain lab tests (e.g., urine levels of certain acids). Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know you use Deconex (guaifenesin/phenylephrine) 900/30mg.
