Before taking Famvir (famciclovir), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to penciclovir; or if you have any other allergies.

Before using Famvir (famciclovir), tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: cancer, HIV infection, problems with the immune system, kidney problems.

Famvir (famciclovir) may rarely make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.  Limit alcoholic beverages.

Famvir (famciclovir) may contain lactose.  If you have certain metabolic conditions (e.g., galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency) that requires you to restrict your intake of lactose, consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the safe use of Famvir (famciclovir).

Kidney function declines as you grow older.  Famvir (famciclovir) is removed by the kidneys.  Therefore, caution is advised when using Famvir (famciclovir) in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug, especially dizziness, confusion, and sleepiness.

Famvir (famciclovir) should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.  Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is not known if Famvir (famciclovir) passes into breast milk.  This product may cause undesirable effects in a nursing infant.  Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Famvir (famciclovir) is used in certain patients to treat or help prevent outbreaks of herpes simplex on the skin (mouth, lips, genitals, anus).  Famvir (famciclovir) is also used to treat outbreaks of shingles (herpes zoster).  The viruses that cause these infections are similar.  They live in the body quietly until an outbreak is triggered.  Famvir (famciclovir) is not a cure for the infections, but treating an outbreak can speed up healing of the sores, decrease pain, and lower the risk of complications from the virus (e.g., whole body infection, brain infection, persistent pain after sore healing).

Dosage of Famvir (famciclovir) is based on your kidney function, medical condition, and response to therapy.

Famvir (famciclovir) works best when the amount of drug in your body is kept at a constant level.  Therefore, take Famvir (famciclovir) at evenly spaced intervals.  To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.

Do not take more or less of Famvir (famciclovir) than prescribed or stop taking it even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor.  Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may decrease the effectiveness of the drug.

"Three years ago, my doctor started me on Combivent for chronic bronchitis and suggested I contact Universal Drugstore.  I ordered at that time and I am still receiving my medication from Universal Drugstore.  I can't say enough about the extra fine service I have had with UDS.  I have recommended UDS to several people."
