What is a generic medication?

Generic medications are significantly discounted copies of brand name medication that have the same active ingredients, intended use, dosage, side effects, effects, and route of administration as the original brand name medication. In other words, generic medications have the same pharmacological effects as their brand-name counterparts. Over half of all prescribed medications are for generic medications.

  • Mepron Overview

Atovaquone is used to prevent or treat a serious lung infection called Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). Mepron helps to stop infection symptoms such as fever, cough, tiredness, and shortness of breath.

  • How to Use Mepron

Shake the bottle gently but well before each dose. Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. To treat PCP, take Mepron by mouth with food as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily for 21 days. To prevent PCP, take Mepron with food usually once a day as directed. Atovaquone must be taken with food so your body can absorb as much of the medication as possible so it can work well. For children, the Dosage of Mepron is also based on age and weight. Mepron works best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. If you take Mepron twice a day, take it at evenly spaced intervals about 12 hours apart. If you take Mepron once a day, take it at the same time each day. Continue to take Mepron for the full time prescribed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection. Tell your doctor if you develop symptoms of PCP, or if your condition lasts or gets worse.
