Sevikar Drug Information - Universal Drugstore Pharmacy News

Sevikar is typically prescribed to patients who have high blood pressure, or are at a high risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.

Sevikar helps lower blood pressure by widening and relaxing blood vessels.

Sevikar Helps Treat the Following Conditions:

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure (hypertension) is a common condition that increases the workload of the heart and blood vessels. Blood pressure often increases when the arteries narrow, which increases the amount of resistance blood meets while the heart pumps.

Severe hypertension often manifests in the following symptoms: nosebleeds, chest pain, flushing, shortness of breath, dizziness, and blood in the urine. These symptoms require emergency medical attention.

Though you may not notice any symptoms, high blood pressure may still cause damage. Hypertension is best diagnosed by taking blood pressure readings. If left untreated, the condition can cause serious health problems. High blood pressure is typically treated with a combination of prescription medication and lifestyle changes like exercise and dietary habits.

Marketed In the US as Azor

In the US and some other parts of the world, you can buy Sevikar under the brand name Azor.

Active Ingredients and Generic Alternatives to Sevikar

Sevikar has two active ingredients – amlodipine and olmesartan. Amlodipine relaxes the muscles of the heart and blood vessels while olmesartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing.

A generic version of Sevikar is available under the name amlodipine besylate/olmesartan medoxomil.

What Is Sevikar?

Sevikar relieves the symptoms of hypertension. The medication should be taken exactly as prescribed.

Patients are most often recommended to take the medicine once daily, with or without food. At the beginning of the treatment, most patients are prescribed a lower dose that’s increased after 1-2 weeks. It may take up to two weeks to experience the full benefits of Sevikar, therefore, it is important to take the medication regularly.

If you take any drugs that lower cholesterol (e.g. cholestyramine, colesevelam), wait at least four hours after taking Sevikar.

Patients who miss their daily dose should take it as soon possible. If it’s near the time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and continue as usual. Patients should not take a double dose.
