How long does magnesium citrate take to work?

Magnesium citrate is an over-the-counter liquid laxative combining magnesium and citric acid, used for occasional constipation. It can produce a bowel movement within 30 minutes to 6 hours after ingestion. If no response occurs by 6 hours, contact your healthcare provider for advice.

Administration instructions

- Take on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal).
- Drink a full glass of water (8 oz/240 ml) afterward.
- Ensure bathroom access for the next 6 hours.
