Opzelura
Opzelura (ruxolitinib) is a topical non-steroidal cream. Adults and children 12 years of age and up who are non-immunocompromised can use it to treat short-term moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) and non-segmental vitiligo (a disorder in which the skin loses its color). Opzelura is typically applied topically twice daily. It is less likely to produce major side effects than oral JAK inhibitors, although it shares the same boxed warnings.

Important information about Opzelura
How does Opzelura work?
The active ingredient in Opzelura is ruxolitinib phosphate, which is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the JAK1 and JAK2 enzymes (proteins) that block the activation of other immune system proteins. This reduces inflammation in the skin (redness, swelling, and pain) to treat eczema. This also avoids the loss of certain skin cells responsible for skin color (pigmentation) when treating nonsegmental vitiligo.
How do you use Opzelura?
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and read all documents provided, including the full Prescribing Information, FDA-Approved Product Labeling, Instructions for Use, and Medication Guide before using Opzelura.
