Trulicity (dulaglutide) is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist that helps Type 2 diabetics 10 years of age and up control their blood sugar levels. It has also been approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes, and heart-related death in certain persons with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug is injected under the skin once every week. Common adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. When combined with certain diabetes drugs, such as insulin or a sulfonylurea, there is an increased risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
