How does ecnoglutide work?

Ecnoglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that is currently in development. It is unique and differs slightly from other GLP-1s like semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). It is a first-in-class, long-acting, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-biased GLP-1 receptor agonist. Along with this biased signaling approach, it also has reduced beta-arrestin activity compared to other GLP-1 receptor agonists. This approach is thought to enhance its efficacy in promoting weight loss and blood sugar control.
