Vandazole

The active ingredient in Vandazole is metronidazole. Metronidazole vaginal gel is a nitroimidazole antibiotic. It works by destroying bacterial DNA and inhibiting bacterial growth in the vagina.

Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and read all documents provided, including the full Prescribing Information, FDA-Approved Product Labeling, Instructions for Use, and Medication Guide before using Vandazole. However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of Vandazole:

• Use this medication at bedtime.
• Vandazole is commonly administered as a single dose. However, you may need to utilise the medication for five nights in a row. Follow your doctor's dosing recommendations carefully.
• Don't take Vandazole by mouth. It is intended for usage solely in the vagina.
• Read and carefully follow any instructions for use that come with your medicine. If you don't understand these directions, ask your doctor or chemist.
• Before you apply the drug, gently wash your vagina. Wash your hands before and after using the pharmaceutical tube or vaginal applicator.
• Use the provided applicator to insert the drug directly into your vagina. Each disposable applicator can only be used once.
• You may need to use a sanitary napkin throughout therapy, but not a tampon. Do not use a douche or any other vaginal product while taking Vandazole.
• Even if your symptoms resolve rapidly, continue to take this medication for the full duration recommended. Skipping doses increases your risk of developing a drug-resistant infection.
• Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen.

Some mild or common side effects of Vandazole seen in clinical trials as compared to placebo include:

• Vaginal yeast infection.
• Headache.
• Itching.
• Breast pain.
• Abdominal pain or stomach pain.
• Vaginal discharge.

Some individuals may experience serious side effects while using Vandazole. These side effects may require immediate medical attention. If you experience any of the following, contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical help:

• Allergic reaction to the medication, such as hives, skin rashes, or swelling in the face, arms, or legs.

Before starting Vandazole, it is crucial to discuss any existing health conditions with your healthcare provider. You should be sure that your healthcare provider is aware of all your medical conditions, including:

• Nerve issues.
• A seizure.
• Raynaud's syndrome is a type of peripheral vascular disease.
• Allergic to parabens and polyethylene glycol.
• Drink alcohol.
• Took Antabuse (disulfiram) during the last 14 days.

• Paraben allergy.
• Have taken disulfiram (Antabuse) in the last two weeks.
• Alcohol usage.

Vandazole typically begins functioning within a few days of starting medication. Most patients see an improvement in their bacterial vaginosis symptoms by day 2 or 3, but it is critical to complete the entire course (usually 5 days) to ensure the infection is completely cured and prevent it from recurring.

When Vandazole is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. Make sure that you tell your healthcare professional about anything that you are taking to avoid any negative drug interactions, including:

• Lithium.
• A blood thinner (warfarin, Coumadin, or Jantoven).
• Cimetidine.
• Tinidazole.

Nuvessa (metronidazole 1.3% vaginal gel): The average dose is one applicatorful inserted into the vagina at bedtime as a one-time medication.

Vandazole (metronidazole 0.75%) vaginal gel: For a 5-day course, apply one applicatorful into the vagina at bedtime.

Generic metronidazole 0.75% vaginal gel: For a 5-day course, apply one applicatorful into the vagina once or twice daily.

Store at room temperature and keep out of reach of children.

Do not stop taking Vandazole abruptly, as this may worsen side effects.

You should not breastfeed for 48 hours after taking metronidazole. If you use a breast pump during this period, dispose of any milk you gather. Do not feed it to your infant.
