What is a generic medication?
Generic medications are significantly discounted copies of brand name medication that have the same active ingredients, intended use, dosage, side effects, effects, and route of administration as the original brand name medication. In other words, generic medications have the same pharmacological effects as their brand-name counterparts. Over half of all prescribed medications are for generic medications.

Bumex Overview
Bumetanide is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. Bumetanide is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.
Bumex Warnings
Bumetanide is a very potent medication. Using too much of Bumex can lead to serious water and salt/mineral loss. It is important that you are closely monitored by your doctor while taking Bumex. Tell your doctor right away if you become very thirsty or confused, or develop muscle cramps/weakness. See also Side Effects section.
How to Use Bumex
Take Bumex by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. It is best to avoid taking Bumex within 4 hours of your bedtime to prevent having to get up to urinate. Dosage of Bumex is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Older adults usually start with a lower dose to decrease the risk of side effects. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Take Bumex regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) of the day as directed. Keep taking Bumex even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens. If you are taking Bumex to control high blood pressure, tell your doctor if your blood pressure readings remain high or increase.

Bumetanide may reduce the potassium level in your blood. Your doctor may instruct you to add potassium-rich foods to your diet (such as bananas, orange juice) or prescribe potassium supplements to prevent potassium loss. Ask your doctor for more details. Bumex may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana (cannabis). Severe sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting can increase the risk of dehydration. Report prolonged diarrhea or vomiting to your doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions about the amount of fluids you can drink. Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). Older adults may be more sensitive to the effects of Bumex, especially dizziness and water/mineral loss. During pregnancy, Bumex should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if Bumex passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Bumex Side Effects
What are Bumex side effects?
Side effects are physical, mental or emotional symptoms which occur in addition to or outside of the desired effect of a therapeutic treatment such as an over-the-counter or prescribed drug or medication. Side effects from Bumex may occur at the beginning or at the end of treatment and may also depend on the length of time an individual remains on the treatment. Side effects, also known as adverse effects, are generally more likely to occur when starting treatment. Individuals may also experience side effects from Bumex as a result of an interaction with other medications.
Side Effects of Bumex
The side effects of Bumex may vary in number and intensity for many different reasons. Factors such as age, weight, gender and ethnicity may influence the side effects of Bumex. Also, an individual’s state of general physical health and seriousness of the disease or illness as well as an increase or decrease in dosage may lead to side effects. Further, side effects from Bumex may also occur as a result of an interaction with certain herbal supplements, foods or drinks.
Prescription drug side effects can be serious and may cause patients to stop the treatment.
