Demadex

However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of Demadex:

• Demadex is an oral tablet that is typically taken once daily. It can be taken with or without food.
• To promptly address any severe side effects, you might get your initial injection in a hospital or clinic if you have cirrhosis or other liver issues.
• Don't prepare an injection until you're ready to administer it. If the medication contains particles or has changed color, do not use it. For new medications, give your pharmacist a call.

The most common side effects of Demadex include:

• Low blood pressure (hypotension): fainting, lightheadedness, or a weak or fast pulse.
• Severe cutaneous reaction: redness, peeling skin, and painful blisters.
• An allergic reaction to the medication.
• Hyperuricemia (high uric acid in the blood) and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels).
• Tinnitus and hearing loss (ototoxicity), which is usually reversible.

• Allergic to a diabetes medication taken orally.
• Cardiac conditions like congestive heart failure.

• Gout.
• An allergy to povidone, which is occasionally found in Betadine and iodine.

• Unable to urinate.
• Hepatic coma (liver disorders causing confusion or loss of brain function).

Demadex can cause you to urinate within 1 hour of taking it and will last between 6 to 8 hours.

When Demadex is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. • Any other diuretic medicine like spironolactone, furosemide, and hydrochlorothiazide.
• Cholestyramine, lithium, phenytoin, probenecid, rifampin, and warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven).
• Antifungal medicines like fluconazole and miconazole.
• Heart or blood pressure medicines like amiodarone, dronedarone, enalapril, irbesartan, lisinopril, losartan, olmesartan, valsartan, and others.
• NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others.
• Salicylates such as aspirin.
• Corticosteroids like dexamethasone, prednisone, and others.
• Digoxin.

Edema from heart failure or kidney disease:

The typical starting dose for generic torsemide is 10 mg to 20 mg orally once daily. Your doctor will alter your dose based on how you respond to the drug. The maximum dose is 200 mg taken orally once daily.

Edema from liver disease:

The typical starting dose for generic torsemide is 5 mg to 10 mg orally once daily. Your doctor will alter your dose based on how you respond to the drug. The maximum dose is 40 milligrams taken orally once daily.

High Blood Pressure

The typical beginning dose for generic torsemide is 5 mg orally once daily. Your doctor will change your dose in 4-6 weeks based on how you respond to the drug. The maximum dose is 10 mg taken orally once daily.

If you miss a dose, take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time.

Store your Demadex at room temperature and keep it out of reach of children.

Brand-name Demadex has been discontinued.

There are lower-cost generic versions available for Demadex.

Even if you feel fine, continue to take torsemide as directed. Do not discontinue taking torsemide without consulting your doctor.
