Nurtec

The active ingredient in Nurtec is rimegepant sulfate. This medication belongs to a class known as calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist. CGRP is a protein that attaches to receptors found in the brain and triggers a migraine attack. Levels of CGRP increase during a migraine and play a role in pain transmission. Nurtec ODT’s mechanism of action as a CGRP receptor antagonist works by blocking activation of the CGRP to help treat and prevent migraine headaches.

• Take this medication orally exactly as directed by your physician. This medication will dissolve in your mouth.
• Open the blister pack with dry hands by peeling back the foil covering. Do not open it until you are ready to take the medicine. Take the medicine right away after you open the blister pack, and do not store it outside of the blister pack for future use.
• If a dose of Nurtec ODT is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and only take the next dose.

The most common side effects of Nurtec ODT seen in clinical trials as compared to placebo include:

• Nausea.
• Indigestion.
• Stomach pain.

Some individuals may experience serious side effects while using Nurtec. These side effects may require immediate medical attention. If you experience any of the following, contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical help:

• Severe allergic reaction - hives, swelling, itching, trouble breathing, rash.

Nurtec ODT starts working within an hour for acute migraine treatment, with many people experiencing pain relief and regaining function within 2 hours.

When Nurtec is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. • Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
• Moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors.

• Ranolazine.
