Prinivil
The active ingredient in Prinivil is lisinopril. Prinivil’s mechanism of action is that it is a member of a group of drugs known as angiotensin-converting enzyme or ACE inhibitors. To improve blood flow and the heart's ability to pump blood, it reduces specific substances that constrict blood vessels.

What interacts with Prinivil?
When Prinivil is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. Make sure that you tell your healthcare professional about anything that you are taking to avoid any negative drug interactions, including:
- A diuretic or "water pill" like amiloride, triamterene, or spironolactone that may raise blood potassium levels.
- NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) include celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, naproxen (Aleve), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), and aspirin, among others.
- Insulin or drugs for diabetes.
- Drugs like temsirolimus, sirolimus, or everolimus that stop organ transplant rejection.

What doses of Prinivil are available?

Adults: Depending on whether you're already taking a diuretic, the usual starting dose is 5–10 mg taken orally once daily. The usual maintenance dose of lisinopril is between 20 and 40 mg.
Children six years of age and up: The dose for your child will be decided by their healthcare practitioner based on their body weight. Up to 5 mg of lisinopril, or 0.07 mg/kg of body weight, is usually taken orally once daily as the first dosage. The daily maximum dosage of lisinopril is 0.61 mg/kg or up to 40 mg.
Heart Failure:
Adults: Five milligrams taken orally once a day is the usual first dosage. 40 mg once daily is the maximum dosage.
Adults with heart attacks: 5 mg taken orally once daily for two days is the usual dosage. After that, take 10 mg every day for at least six weeks.
