Ceclor CD Overview
Ceclor CD is a cephalosporin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections (such as skin and respiratory tract infections). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
How to Use Ceclor CD
Take Ceclor CD by mouth with a meal, usually every 12 hours, or as directed by your doctor. Swallow Ceclor CD and then drink a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters). Swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects. For the best effect, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. To help you remember, take Ceclor CD at the same time(s) every day. Continue to take Ceclor CD until the full-prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping Ceclor CD too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection. Antacids may decrease the absorption of Ceclor CD. If you use antacids, take them at least 1 hour apart from Ceclor CD. Tell your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse.
Ceclor CD Precautions
Before taking cefaclor, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to penicillins or other cephalosporins; or if you have any other allergies. Ceclor CD may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Before using Ceclor CD, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, kidney disease, intestinal disease (colitis). Cefaclor may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work well. Tell your health care professional that you are using cefaclor before having any immunizations/vaccinations. During pregnancy, Ceclor CD should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Ceclor CD passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Ceclor CD Misdose
If you miss a dose of Ceclor CD, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Use your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
