Nexlizet

The active ingredients in Nexlizet are bempedoic acid and ezetimibe. The mechanism of action of bempedoic acid inhibits ATP-citrate lyase (ACL). ACL is a protein that helps your liver produce cholesterol. Bempedoic acid works by preventing ACL, which prevents the formation of LDL-C (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol), also known as "bad cholesterol." Ezetimibe is a cholesterol absorption inhibitor. It reduces the amount of cholesterol absorbed into the body from the intestines.

However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of Nexlizet:

• Take one Nexlizet 180-10 mg tablet by mouth every day. Each pill includes 180 mg bempedoic acid and 10 mg of ezetimibe.
• Swallow the tablet whole. Avoid cutting, chewing, or crushing the tablet.
• You can take Nexlizet with or without food.
• Nexlizet can be taken at any time, but try to take it around the same time every day.
• If you are taking a bile acid sequestrant, such as colesevelam or cholestyramine, take Nexlizet at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after this medication. If you are unsure whether you are taking these medications, consult your healthcare professional.
