The active ingredient in Zomig Nasal Spray is zolmitriptan. This medication belongs to a class known as serotonin (5-HT1) receptor agonists or triptans. • Zomig Nasal Spray should be used exactly as prescribed. It is only meant for nasal use and should not be used in the eyes.
• Some people may need to take their first dose in their doctor’s office to ensure it is safe. Confirm with your doctor if that will be the case for you.
• The typical starting dose is 2.5 mg (1 spray into one nostril). Another spray (2.5 mg or 5 mg) may be used as long as it has been at least 2 hours since the first spray.
• The maximum single dose of Zomig Nasal Spray is 5 mg, and you should not use more than 10 mg in 24 hours.
• Each zolmitriptan nasal spray is meant for single use. Do not prime the spray and do not open until you are ready to use.

• Signs of Raynaud’s Syndrome such as cold fingers and toes that become blue or purple. This is a blood circulation issue that can become dangerous if left unaddressed.
• Any gastrointestinal side effects, such as sudden or severe stomach pain, abdominal pain after eating, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea with or without blood, or fever. These could indicate problems with blood flow to the stomach and intestines.
• Signs of peripheral vascular ischemia or a problem with blood circulation to the legs and feet such as cramping and pain in the legs or hips, heavy or tight leg muscles, a burning or aching sensation in the fingers and toes at rest, numbness/tingling/weakness in the legs, cold legs or feet that may or may not change color due to coldness.
• Signs of serotonin syndrome such as hallucinations, agitation, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, feeling very hot, sweating, tight muscles, trouble walking, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. This is a life-threatening condition that is most common when Zomig is used alongside SSRIs or SNRIs.
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as rash, hives, trouble breathing, or swelling of the face, mouth, lips, eyes, or tongue.

Do not use Zomig Nasal Spray if you have:

• Ischemic coronary artery disease, including angina pectoris, history of myocardial infarction, or documented silent ischemia)
• Prinzmetal's angina
• Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome or other arrhythmias
• History of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)
• History of hemiplegic or basilar migraine
• Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
• Ischemic bowel disease
• Uncontrolled hypertension
• Recent use (i.e., within 24 hours) of another 5-HT1 agonist, ergotamine-containing medication, or ergot-type medication (such as dihydroergotamine or methysergide)
• Concurrent use of MAO-A (monoamine oxidase) inhibitors or recent discontinuation with past use in the last 2 weeks. MAOIs include phenelzine and tranylcypromine.
• An allergy to zolmitriptan or any of the other ingredients in Zomig

Zomig begins to work right after use. Most people will experience significant improvement in their migraine pain by the 1-hour mark.

When Zomig Nasal Spray is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. • Ergot-containing drugs, including dihydroergotamine or methysergide
• MAO-A inhibitors
