Inderal
Inderal (propranolol) is a brand-name beta blocker that is used to treat tremors, angina pectoris (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm abnormalities, and other heart or circulatory conditions. It is also used to lessen the intensity and frequency of migraine headaches and to treat or prevent heart attacks. Off-label Inderal prescriptions are occasionally given by doctors to treat performance anxiety. This medication is taken orally, usually once or four times daily, depending on whether you take an extended-release (ER)/long-acting or immediate-release (IR) form. Remember that different medical conditions are treated by the IR and ER versions.

Important information about Inderal
How does Inderal work?
The active ingredient in Inderal is propranolol hydrochloride which is a beta-adrenergic blocker. It decreases blood pressure and helps with chest pain by relaxing your blood vessels to improve blood flow and slowing your heart rate.
How do you use Inderal?
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and read all documents provided, including the full Prescribing Information, FDA-Approved Product Labeling, Instructions for Use, and Medication Guide before using Inderal. However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of Inderal:
- Inderal is typically taken 1 to 4 times daily, depending on which formulation you use. It can be taken with or without food.
- Children's weight determines their dosage. If your child's weight changes, their usual dose may also change.
- Regular checks of your blood pressure and heart function are necessary.
- If you have a planned surgery, let your doctor know.
- If you abruptly stop taking Inderal, your condition might worsen. Before stopping the medication, consult your doctor.
- Certain medical test results may be impacted by propranolol. Inform any medical professional you see that you take Inderal.
- Even if you feel well, continue taking this medication if you have high blood pressure. Symptoms of high blood pressure are frequently absent.
- If you miss a dose of Inderal, take it as soon as you can. But if your next dose is almost due, skip the missed dose and take it at its next scheduled time. Avoid taking two doses at once.
