How does Dermotic work?
The active ingredient in DermOtic Oil is fluocinolone acetonide, which is a topical corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammation and suppressing immune responses in the skin of the outer ear and ear canal to relieve itching, redness, and swelling.
How do you use Dermotic?
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and read all documents provided, including the full Prescribing Information, FDA-Approved Product Labeling, Instructions for Use, and Medication Guide before using DermOtic. However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of DermOtic:
1. Wash your hands before and after using the medication.
2. Tilt your head to one side so that the affected ear is facing up, then gently pull back the ear backwards and upwards.
3. Using the supplied ear dropper, apply 5 drops of the DermOtic oil into the ear, then keep your head tilted for one minute.
4, Gently pat any excess oil with a clean cotton ball.
5. Do not use any earplugs or cotton in the ear while using this medication.
6. Do not use anywhere else on the body. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
What are the side effects of Dermotic?

- Cushing’s syndrome from excessive corticosteroid exposure. Signs and symptoms may include weight gain, rounding of the face, increased body fat in the upper body, or stretch marks.
- Acneiform eruptions, whose symptoms may include acne-like skin bumps or irritation.
