Important information about Tobradex Eye Drops

The active ingredients in Tobradex ophthalmic suspension are dexamethasone and tobramycin.

Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces your body’s inflammatory response to reduce redness, swelling, pain, and other symptoms of inflammation.

Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that stops bacteria from making the protein they need to grow.

Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and read all documents provided, including the full Prescribing Information, FDA-Approved Product Labeling, Instructions for Use, and Medication Guide before using Tobradex eye drops. However, the following is a synopsis of the general guidelines for the use of Tobradex eye drops:

-Wash your hands.

-It is not recommended to wear hard or soft contact lenses during the treatment of an eye condition. However, if you wear contact lenses, take them out before instilling the Tobradex eye drops.

-Make a pocket by gently pulling down your lower eyelid.

-Instill 1-2 drops into this pocket every four hours. Make sure the dropper tip does not touch your eye or eyelid during the application.

-If you are using another kind of eye drop, wait 5 minutes after instilling Tobradex before using the next drops.

-If you use eye ointments, wait 5 minutes after instilling the Tobradex drops. Apply the ointment last, after you other drops.

-Wait at least 15 minutes after the application before reinserting your contact lenses.

-In the event of a missed dose, apply the instructed number of drops as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and instill the instructed number of drops at your next scheduled time.
