Proctofoam HC

The active ingredients in Proctofoam HC are pramoxine hydrochloride and hydrocortisone acetate. • Skin reactions, like irritation, dryness, skin atrophy, and changes in skin color (hypopigmentation) around the rectal area
• Striae (stretch marks)
• Miliaria
• Contact dermatitis
• Unusual hair growth at the application site

Some individuals may experience serious side effects while using Proctofoam HC. These side effects may require immediate medical attention. If you experience any of the following, contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency medical help:

• Allergic reaction. Signs and symptoms include a skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, or tongue.
• Reduced adrenal gland function, also known as adrenal insufficiency. Signs and symptoms include nausea, vomiting, lack of energy, weight loss, and low blood pressure.
• Cushing’s syndrome. Signs and symptoms include weight gain, easy bruising, depression, and anxiety.
• Hypertension (increased blood pressure).
• Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).
• Infections. Signs and symptoms include fever, nausea, and vomiting.
• Eye problems, like cataracts and glaucoma. Signs and symptoms include cloudy vision, changes in how you see colors, and changes in vision.
• Mood changes.
• Osteoporosis (weak bones).
• Severe rectal pain, bleeding from the rectum, or worsening of your condition.

• Diabetes
• Eye problems like glaucoma or cataracts

• Recent vaccinations, and if you have any upcoming vaccines

• Allergy to hydrocortisone, pramoxine, or any ingredients in Proctofoam HC
• Rectal conditions like fistulas, abscesses, and peritonitis
• Current fungal infection, tuberculous, or viral lesions of the skin

It may take a couple of days to notice improvement in pain when using Proctofoam HC for hemorrhoids.

When Proctofoam HC is taken with other prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements, it may change how they work or increase the frequency or severity of side effects. Make sure that you tell your healthcare professional about anything that you are taking to avoid any negative drug interactions, including:

• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, and others
• Estrogen in birth control or hormonal replacement medications
• Certain heart medications, like digoxin
• Diabetic medications
• Antibiotics like clarithromycin or erythromycin
• Seizure medications like carbamazepine or phenytoin
• Warfarin (a blood thinner)

Proctofoam HC contains 1% hydrocortisone and 1% pramoxine.

Store Proctofoam HC at room temperature, out of reach of children and pets.
